Contest Rules, Guidelines, and Submission Requirements

Eligibility: The contest is open to all photographers, both amateur and professional, regardless of age.

 

Entry Fee: The cost to enter each photograph is $5. Participants can submit up to 5 photographs. CLICK HERE to enter.

 

Original Work: All entries must be original works taken by the participant. Photos that have been previously published or won awards in other contests are not eligible.

 

Content: Photographs must be taken within the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and should depict its landscapes, wildlife, or unique features. Photos with watermarks or any identifying marks will not be accepted.

 

Rights: By entering the contest, participants grant the Friends of the Black Canyon a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the submitted photographs for promotional purposes, with proper credit given to the photographer.

 

Disqualification: Any entry that does not adhere to these rules will be disqualified. The entry fee is non-refundable.

 

Submission Guidelines

 

Format: Photographs must be submitted in JPEG format, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Each file should not exceed 10 MB in size.

 

Naming: Each file should be named using the following format: LastName_FirstName_TitleOfPhoto.jpeg (e.g., Smith_John_SunsetOverCanyon.jpeg).

Age Category: At the bottom of the submission form please select the age group you are submitting for.

 

Submission Form: Participants must complete the online submission form, the number of submissions, and the age category.

 

Payment: The entry fee of $5 per photograph must be paid at the time of submission. Payments can be made through our secure online payment system.

Deadline: All entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM (Mountain Time) on October 14th.

 

Judging and Guidelines

 

Criteria: Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: Creativity and originality technical quality (sharpness, exposure, composition) Adherence to the theme (how well the photograph captures the essence of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park)

 

Judging Panel: The panel of judges will consist of professional photographers. 

Notification: Winners will be notified via email and announced at the Bluecorn Birthday Fundraiser event on October 18th.

 

Important Notes

 

Multiple Entries: Participants may submit up to 5 photographs, but each must be submitted individually with the corresponding entry fee.

 

Ethical Standards: Photographers must adhere to ethical standards and respect the natural environment and wildlife while taking photographs. Any entries that depict harm to the environment or wildlife will be disqualified.

 

Image Editing: Basic post-processing (cropping, color correction, exposure adjustment) is allowed. However, excessive manipulation (adding/removing elements, composite images) is not permitted.
